The company says logging interval and start/ stop times can be changed easily using HW4-LITE PC software (included). Recorded measurements can be downloaded for analysis; charting and statistical functions are included. The BL-1D logger also measures humidity, temperature and dew point. Main features include: compact, inexpensive logger with integrated sensors; precision measurement: ±3 hPa, ±3 %rh, ±0.3 °C; measures and logs pressure, humidity, temperature, dew point (calculated); configurable logging interval and start/ stop times and high capacity memory. t| 01293 571000 e| instruments@rotronic.co.uk w www.rotronic.co.uk COMPRESSED AIR CENTRE, a leading South East distributor of high quality compressed air products, has been acquired by private entrepreneurs Ben Richardson and Serge Santos. The Chessington based business says it has been trading for more than 25 years and is ISO9001 and CHAS certified and a BCAS member. It offers an end-to-end service for users of compressed air from the sale, installation, and servicing of compressors through to a 24-hour emergency breakdown service and the hire and rental of compressors. The new DC 5 Manulift allows users of Demag chain hoists to handle loads weighing up to 500 kg simply and safely. The company says the DC Manulift, used in conjunction with a Demag DC chain hoist, may be used for simple and safe horizontal and vertical movement of loads with minimum operator effort. Loads may be manoeuvred with the operator using just one hand, leaving the other hand free to operate the crane control system. This provides ergonomic advantages over the use of conventional chain hoists, where the operator often needs to use both hands to lift and position loads. t| 01295 676100 e| bnb-help@demagcranes.com w| www.demagcranes.co.uk Handling with ease Hygienic factory design QUIREPACE reports it has designed and installed six central vacuum cleaning/bulk removal systems for one of the largest biomass projects in a UK power station conversion. The company says the systems were designed to cover the whole of the project’s mechanical handling, storage and out-loading system, including rail reception, screen house, conveyor gantries, dome loading/out-loading, transfer towers and onward to processing silos. Each system is sized for two operators using 76mm bore hoses/tools carrying out bulk removal duties or four operators using 51mm hoses/tools for general heavy duty cleaning. There are hose connection points within the fixed pipe work attached to a filter separator where the product is separated from the conveying air with the air passing on to the 45kW exhauster package. t| 02392 603700 e| enquiries@bvc.co.uk w| www.bvc.co.uk Biomass cleaning project Compressed air products Precision data logger Niall McQuitty, (pictured) architectural director at Stamford-based design firm ARCTICA, has announced he will be discussing best practice in hygienic factory design at a Food and Drink Federation conference entitled Hygiene by Design taking place at the FDF’s London premises on 16 November. Niall McQuitty said:“Companies engaging in the new build and development of food manufacturing sites are under increasing pressure to ensure they are fit for purpose in terms of constantly changing regulations around hygiene. Hygiene is critical to the success of any food and drink manufacturing business. It is therefore crucial that manufacturers develop best practice based upon the principles of hygienic engineering and design right from the start of the planning process of a specific project. This is true right through the design process.” t| 01780 482200 w| www.arctica.co.uk Divisional director appointed
