As music festivals go, they don’t get bigger or better than Glastonbury. The logistics of putting on an event for over 200,000 people is mindboggling and ensuring the availability and accessibility of sufficient clean water is just one aspect. This involved GRUNDFOS PUMPS being asked to advise the organisers in relation to further optimising their system. After a site survey, attention switched to improving the overall control and efficiency of the booster units. This is an important aspect as energy use and sustainability are always high on Glastonbury’s agenda. Coming up with a bespoke solution to this unique requirement, Grundfos put forward a coordinated approach that involved several suggested activities. This involved the upgrade of the pump motors to more energy efficient versions, the incorporation of a new precision dosing system and a remote monitoring system that would mean a significant improvement in data exchange. These changes are overarched by the new Grundfos remote monitoring system which will mean that all aspects of the network can be accessed and interrogated 24/7, with an instant inbuilt alarm to advise of any issues. Grundfos Pumps says it will not feature on the Pyramid Stage or be listed on a programme, but it is are very proud to be playing a small role in delivering an important, if rather taken for granted element - water. t | 01525 850000 e | grundfos-uk@sales.grundfos.com w | www.grundfos.co.uk FULTON reports the VSRT is the first steam boiler to emerge from its new ‘PURE Technology’approach, and says it’s an initiative that’s resulted in a world-first design that is durable, long-lasting and boasts the highest efficiencies and ultra-low NOx emissions as standard. Commenting, Fulton’s Leigh Bryan says: “PURE Technology aims to enhance heat transfer, provide class-leading efficiencies, improve steam quality and reduce NOx emissions.“Rather than further-improve products like our J Series to achieve these goals, PURE Technology – the culmination of Fulton’s clean slate approach to design – challenges the industry status quo on conventional boiler design by engineering solutions that are fit-for- purpose and fully-optimised for all applications.”says Leigh. t| 0117 972 3322 e| sales@fulton.co.uk w| www.fulton.co.uk High efficiencies, low emissions When Aberdeen Marine was awarded the contract to protect six piles on the Eriskay Causeway Bridge in the Western Isles it suggested the use of the WINN & COALES (DENSO) SeaShield 2000FD System™ as an alternative to the original specified system. The company submitted details of the technical merits of the SeaShield 2000FD system™ and the benefits in using this tried and tested system to the Western Isles Council, who agreed to the change in the specification. Seashield 2000FD™ is a heavy duty robust system which provides protection against corrosion on marine piles. It consists of Denso S105 Paste™, Denso Marine Piling Tape™ and a HDPE Jacket which is applied by pneumatic tensioning equipment and secures with stainless steel bolts. t | 020 8670 7511. e | mail@denso.net Contract to protect piles Hoval has announced it has launched a modular, scalable solution for heating and ventilating warehouses and other ‘shed’ type buildings of any size and height, providing significantly improved control of thermal stratification compared to conventional systems. The company says providing the best features of both centralised and decentralised systems, the Hoval Large Space Heating system simplifies planning and tendering whilst also reducing project implementation times. The system is based on a three-module concept configurable depending on requirements; the UltraGas condensing gas boiler feeding TopVent units for recirculation or RoofVent units if air changes are required. All of these products are controlled by the TopTronic C zone control system – all fully ErP 2018 compliant. t | 01636 672711 e | marketing@hoval.co.uk w | www.hoval.co.uk Staying in control at Glastonbury Large space heating system 38 | Plant & Works Engineering www.pwemag.co.uk May 2019 Energy, the Environment & Water VPINSTRUMENTS, manufacturer of leading flow metering equipment for easy insight into energy flows, has announced the new online learning platform: VP Academy. The company says this platform will cover all instructions and information about its products and it shows how, when and where VPInstruments’ products can be used. The company says VP Academy enables clients to learn at their own time and pace. Both fundamental steps and in-depth knowledge of the VPInstruments’ products are provided on the platform. This new online learning environment is especially designed to make instructions and information as easy and as effortless as possible. Therefore, information and instructions are provided in text, visuals and video’s.
