Based on a proprietary and patented crosslinking system that has been developed specifically for the chemical processing industry, DuPont Kalrez Spectrum 7275 seals are reported to exhibit minimal swelling and improved retention of physical properties when exposed to aggressive chemicals such as concentrated nitric acid, organosilanes, chlorosilanes, pure ethylene oxide, butyraldehyde, amines, vinyl monomers and acrylic monomers. Kalrez 7275 seals are available in the UK from authorised distributor DICHTOMATIK. Any process plant that uses chemicals as an inherent part of its operations knows the importance of reliable, long-lasting seal technology. With Kalrez 7275, which is a special perfluoroelastomer product, users are said to enjoy excellent compression set resistance and good retention of physical properties after ageing at high temperatures. In fact, the seals can deliver a higher level of performance in any aggressive chemical processing application with temperatures up to 300°C, especially where high resistance to strong oxidisers such as nitric acid, chlorine and chlorine dioxide is required. Among those able to vouch for the benefits of Kalrez 7275 is a paper mill in North America that relies on chlorine dioxide for its pulp bleaching operations. The paper mill was experiencing frequent failures of a pump handling chlorine dioxide in water. According to the reliability engineer, the incumbent non-black FFKM seal typically failed within 5 months of installation because of the extremely aggressive nature of the stream. However, following replacement of the seals with Kalrez 7275, seal life doubled to more than 12 months, removing the pump from the paper mill’s list of “bad performers” and into routine yearly maintenance. t | 01332 524401 e | kalrez@dichtomatik.co.uk w | www.dichtomatik-kalrez.co.uk Seals deliver long life MEWA says its super absorbent, high performance industrial wipes are on hand for use wherever and whenever with its full- circle textile-management system. The company says UK businesses across the printing, automotive, engineering and manufacturing sectors can now enjoy German efficiency and better focus on their core function knowing all wiping material needs are taken care of to the highest standard. The company says the full-circle system means clean, safe, high performance industrial wipers are always available when required. Staff need simply to use them and put them into an airtight MEWA Safety Container, SaCon. MEWA then picks up the full container as part of a pre-agreed schedule, washes the textiles in accordance with hygienic, sustainable and environmentally friendly methods and returns them clean to the workshop for further use. w | www.mewa.co.uk The old Central Bank Building in Dame Street, Dublin, is currently being redeveloped and WINN & COALES (DENSO) has announced it is supplying corrosion prevention coatings for major structural sections and also an outer wrap prior to fire protection. The building was originally constructed in the 1970’s and the design was based on suspending each floor from two large concrete cores. Each floor level was then constructed at ground level and hoisted into place and then supported by Macalloy tension bars. DBFL Consulting Engineers in discussion with Winn & Coales decided to remove the existing wrap and apply Denso Tape™ to 2500m of 40mm Macalloy bars, thus providing long term corrosion prevention. Denso Self Adhesive PVC Tape™ was then used as an outer wrap before fire protection and cladding was applied. t | 020 8670 7511 e | mail@denso.net Long term corrosion prevention Introducing GSM-PRO2 and GSM-PRO2E communication modules, CONTA-CLIP has announced economic 4G wireless remote control and maintenance solutions for decentralised applications. If no 4G network is available, the modules automatically fall back on 3G or 2G networks. The company says users can enhance the GSM-PRO2 module by adding inputs and outputs using I/O extension modules. The basic GSM-PRO2E device features four relay outputs and 10 inputs. I/Os can be configured for digital (24V DC) or analog (0...10V and 0[4]...20mA) signals, as required. The manufacturer supplies suitable models for the European as well as the US market. GSM-PRO modules automatically alert users via text or email messages when the monitored process reaches a defined state or preset limits are exceeded. t | +49 . 5257 . 9833 - 0 e | christian.quade@conta-clip.de w | www.conta-clip.com 4G-enabled I/O communication modules 16 | Plant & Works Engineering www.pwemag.co.uk July/August 2019 Maintenance Matters SPM INSTRUMENT AB, a leading worldwide provider of condition monitoring technology and products, has announced the release of AiriusTM, a range of wireless vibration sensors for remote monitoring of industrial equipment. The company says providing warning of vibration-related problems as well as gear and bearing faults, Airius is a wireless, battery-powered sensor ideal for remote condition monitoring of standard production equipment such as pumps and fans. Designed and manufactured by SPM Instrument, the sensors build on fifty years of experience in developing reliable and industry-leading solutions for condition monitoring. Remote condition monitoring of machinery enables maintenance departments to cut down on maintenance routes, leaving time to work on improvements in other areas of the plant. It also saves costs in terms of cabling and other hardware associated with wired sensors. t | 01706 835331 e | info@spminstrument.co.uk w | www.spminstrument.co.uk Wireless vibration sensors Industrial wipes for the circular economy
