CONTA-CLIP has announced it is expanding its cable entry portfolio, launching the KDS-R system for M20 to M63 round openings suited to cables with and without plugs. This new cable management system consists of a handful of basic components: the actual cable entry frame with an integrated gasket, a two-piece thread and locking adapter plus two-piece locknut to fix it in place, and sealing elements with a range of inlays. The company says assembly is tool-less, quick, and easy. Cables with and without plugs are simply fed through the enclosure opening and cable entry frame. Slit, tapered, finned sealing elements are fitted around individual cables on the inside. Cables with sealing elements are then pushed back to fit tight in the cable entry frame. t | +49 . 5257 . 9833 - 0 e | christian.quade@conta-clip.de w | www.conta-clip.com Chemical dosing specialist, WES, reports it has published an in-depth white paper explaining the necessity for chemical bunds, examining the choices available and highlighting the responsibilities of businesses toward their provision and maintenance. The white paper from WES, The definitive guide to chemical bunding in the water industry, focuses specifically on chemical storage bunds in the water industry. A chemical storage bund can be described simply as a structure which underlies and forms a wall around an area containing hazardous chemicals or liquids. Its purpose is to provide secondary containment in the event of a leak. It prevents the spread of leaking liquids and so gives operators time to find and remedy a leak’s cause. Bunds are needed for storage tanks, IBCs (intermediate bulk containers) and stored drums. w | www.wes.ltd.uk Part of the Hultafors Group UK’s portfolio of premium-branded workwear, tools, protective wear and safety footwear, the TOE GUARD range of shoes and boots is said to deliver great value safety footwear for all kinds of working environments and weather conditions. With a variety of shoes and boots available in the range, every product has in-built hi-tech designs that deliver S3- certified comfort and safety that includes robust fiberglass toecaps, shock absorption, flexible puncture resistant composite plates, ESD protection, oil resistant friction soles and water resistance. t | 01484 854788 w | www.toeguard.com METREL, the test equipment manufacturer, says the unreliable charging infrastructure is preventing the EV (electric vehicle) roll out, according to an article in Autocar and this is hardly surprising given the ad hoc manner of the development of the infrastructure and the lack of strategic control. Today apparently there are in the region twenty eight thousand charging stations in the UK, of which ten thousand of these are privately owned. To add an additional level of confusion, there are at least ten manufacturers of vehicle charging equipment approved by the Office for Low Emission Vehicles. Metrel, says it has developed an EVSE adapter, A1532, that can interface between any charge point and their own or any manufacturers’ tester. The adapter facilitates the testing of single and three- phase chargers and can test functionally. t | 01924 245000. w | http://bit.ly/e-car-test Leading the charge Founded in 1919, leading hand and power tool distributor Draper Tools is now using supply chain software and engineering company RED LEDGE’S warehouse management system (WMS) to drive the ongoing automation of its warehousing and logistics, the two companies announced today. ‘Red Ledge WMS’ sits at the heart of Draper Tools’ 560,000 ft., 15,000-SKU operation, which services up to 5,000 UK and overseas customers. The WMS is integrated with the company’s IBM ERP and Knapp automated picking systems and updates inventory in real time. Other WMS-driven functions include a volumetric packing optimiser and automated labelling. Many of Draper Tools’ 125 staff in its two-site Eastleigh, Hants operation now use mobile scanners driven by the WMS. Red Ledge WMS is also being used to generate management reports on the performance of individuals, teams and warehouse processes. w | www.redledge.co.uk Comfort and safety for wearers New sy stem on sho w SPM INSTRUMENT UK has announced a new addition to its Intellinova suite of systems for continuous monitoring of rotating machinery, and says the high- performance online system Intellinova Parallel EN is its most advanced. A highly sophisticated technology solution suitable for most industrial equipment, It is particularly well suited for applications where a critical success factor is the capacity to complete the required measurement within a very limited time-frame, e.g. due to short process cycles. With parallel and synchronous measurement capability on up to 16 channels, Intellinova Parallel EN is suitable for applications like rolling mills, railcar dumpers, press nips or winders, as well as lifting and hoisting equipment such as cranes or drop sections.
