ENERSYS reports its NexSys battery range now covers all materials handling vehicle applications. Thin Plate Pure Lead (TPPL) battery technology from EnerSys, long-established in providing highly flexible, maintenance-free operation for materials handling vehicles, is now available in two forms. First is the NexSys Core battery (available only in EMEA markets), a high-performance alternative to traditional lead-acid batteries. Then, for users seeking even more enhanced capabilities, outstanding cycling performance in Partial State of Charge (PSoC) operations and increased cycle life, there is the new NexSys Pure battery. Comprising TPPL technology with the addition of carbon in the active material formulation, the NexSys Pure battery is powerful enough to offer a compelling alternative to lithium-ion (Li-ion) in many applications. “With these two NexSys batteries, we can meet the needs of all electric materials handling vehicle users,” comments Sorelle Metiendjo Tiam, advanced technologies product manager EMEA at EnerSys. Tiam continued: “Those that would have previously deployed traditional lead-acid batteries can benefit from the superior performance of the NexSys Core battery; for them, this battery becomes the standard solution. Similarly, the NexSys Pure battery offers an attractive lower price alternative to lithium-ion for users seeking the highest level of performance.” t | 0161 727 3912 e | karen.shaw@uk.enersys.com w | www.enersys.com / www.discovernexsys.com HART DOOR SYSTEMS, a leading designer and manufacturer of both commercial doors and industrial doors, has announced it has completed a major contract for a range of doors and shutters at Nissan Manufacturing UK’s car plant, Sunderland. Working with Unipress and Sir Robert McAlpine, the contract involved installing new doors and shutters and removing other doors in what was an active manufacturing environment. In all, seven Hart Speedor Storms were installed and a range of shutters both fire and insulated. The company says the completion of this contract continues the excellent relationship with Nissan with some 200 Hart doors now on site. A Hart spokesman says the manufacturing environment at Nissan is “a good platform to demonstrate Hart’s doors’ robustness and reliability” adding that Hart has been supplying a range of doors for over 30 years with Hart accounting for around 90% of all doors on site. From its own office and manufacturing facility in Newcastle upon Tyne, Hart says it designs and manufactures its industrial door systems for a very wide range of sectors, often requiring bespoke solutions and this is a customer-friendly and highly innovative company. t | 0191 214 0404 w | www.hartdoors.com As part of a recent expansion, Chloros, one of the UK’s fastest growing hazardous waste management companies, has announced its successful installation of specialist THORWORLD INDUSTRIES’ loading equipment, within new, state of the art facilities. As part of its continuous development, the firm has relocated its waste transfer station to larger 43,000 square foot premises in Hartlebury, Worcestershire. The move has required meticulous planning and extensive infrastructure to ensure that the relocation premises are compliant, as the company’s project director, Andrew Sawers explains: “We wanted to create a specialist loading area from which we could increase throughput to help our business grow. However, as many of the materials we handle have flammable properties, loading equipment with hydraulic or electrical configurations wasn’t an option. “We needed a ramp with sufficient length and strength to support the effective movement of waste. Thorworld dealer, Warren Craig from Loading Bay Service knew of a solution that would work, and suggested the installation of a 6,000Kg capacity, 4.5 metre Thorworld ramp, alongside a supporting platform and dockboard.” The longer ramp Warren proposed would safely enable forklift access to and from containers without the need for electric or hydraulic mechanisms. The docking area supported the need to heighten efficiency and increase throughput, and the overall design meant that despite the absence of electrical systems, the apparatus consumed the least amount of space possible. “The refurbishment of our new Hartlebury site has been challenging but highly successful, with Thorworld’s ramp design and installation playing its part,” Andrew concludes. w | www.thorworld.co.uk Capabilities ramped up at new facility A new range of quick-to-install, eye-catching floor markers, which can improve safety in the workplace, has been launched by industrial visual communication solutions specialist, BEAVERSWOOD. The company says the range of slimline, half-circle anti-slip markers can be easily placed on any flat, sealed surface to warn people, for example, not to block the entrance to a fire door, or that they are about to enter a quarantine area, or warehouse facility where forklifts are operating. Other important standard safety messages are also available in the range. Tested to R9 (ramp test) to comply with ISO slip resistance requirements, the markers can be swiftly integrated with Beaverswood’s racksack range or other bins. t | 0118 979 6096 e | sales@beaverswood.co.uk w | www.beaverswood.co.uk Battery range covers all applications New floor graphics 40 | Plant & Works Engineering www.pwemag.co.uk April 2020 Handling, Storage, & Logistics Major contract completed
