ESAB WELDING & CUTTING PRODUCTS has launched Rogue, its new series of portable and affordable MMA/Lift TIG inverters with professional arc performance and controls such as adjustable hot start and adjustable arc force. The company says these units measure 343 x 153 x 264 mm and feature ESAB’s next-level control technology to produce a smooth welding arc with all types of MMA electrodes. The Lift TIG (DC TIG) function provides positive arc starts without the use of high frequency. All Rogue models deliver a stable TIG arc down to 10 amps, giving welders the control they need to work on thin metal or delicate components. “Rogue will cause the industry to re-think its perception of power, performance and price,” says Bartosz Kutarba, global product manager. “Welders with Rogue’s capabilities often cost twice as much.” w | www.esab.com SICK says its innovative new FTMg thermal flow meter simultaneously measures gas flow, pressure and temperature then computes the combined values to detect leaks in pneumatic systems and monitor compressed air energy consumption in real time. The SICK FTMg Thermal Flow Meter’s on-board algorithm uses the flow, pressure and temperature values to calculate the energy of gas passing through the flow channel in kWh. By comparing to the electrical power demand of the compressor, the SICK FTMg can accurately detect changes in the efficiency of a pneumatic system. As a result, the compact and easy- to-use device promises major benefits for improved process efficiency of machines, as well as to achieve plant-wide savings as part of ISO EN 50001-compliant energy management systems. t | 01727 831121 e | andrea.hornby@sick.co.uk. w | www.sick.co.uk BUNTING says the launch of its new ElectroStatic Separator is in response to enhanced material separation requirements in the recycling, plastics and minerals industries. The ElectroStatic Separator uses tungsten electrode wire to generate electrostatic charges to separate dry liberated particles. The company says the new technology significantly broadens separation capabilities, opening up new opportunities for recovering materials from waste and optimising mineral reserves. ElectroStatic Separation exploits the difference in electrical conductivity between various materials in a feed material to produce a separation. The separation depends on a number of key material characteristics including conductivity, moisture content and size range. In many applications, often due to the fine particle size, the ElectroStatic Separator is the only technology that enables a separation (e.g. -2mm granulated cable scrap). t | 01442 875081 e | press@buntingeurope.com w | www.mastermagnets.com MICHELL INSTRUMENTS has announced it has upgraded its compact portable hygrometer, the MDM50, with an extended range and a fast response speed. Featuring Michell’s new SF82 dew-point transmitter, the upgraded MDM50 now offers a measurement range of -60 °C to 60 °C dew point, with an accuracy of ±2%. Designed for use in tough industrial environments, the MDM50 is suitable for making spot checks of moisture in compressed air dryers, medical gases and ozone generators. The instrument is fully self-contained with an integral sampling system that can make measurements at line pressure up to 2 MPa (20 barg), and also includes filtration to remove particulates down to 0.3 m. For specific applications, pressure readings at up to 30 MPa are possible. t | 01353 658 000 e | uk.info@michell.com w | www.michell.com/uk Portable fast response hygrometer By Matt Hale, international sales & marketing director, HRS Heat Exchangers : Trials are invaluable for assessing product quality parameters, testing packaging design, consumer research, producing samples and more. HRS has developed a range of portable trial units which allow clients to test equipment including tubular and scraped surface heat exchangers, pilot evaporation plants and mobile piston pumps. For example, the HRS Asepticblock Mini Series allows manufacturers to produce new trial products involving pasteurisation and aseptic packing without the expense or wastage that can accompany full- scale trials. It also alleviates the need to suspend or interfere with routine production. Another aid to conducting trials is the HRS BPM Series of reciprocating, positive-displacement pumps. In addition, the modular nature of many HRS heat exchangers means that we can also provide trial units of many of our heat exchanger models. e | info@uk.hrs-he.com w | www.hrs-heatexchangers.com On-site trials: a low-risk approach to proof of concept New ElectroStatic Separator Compact MMA/Lift TIG inverters 4-in1 Flow meter KAMCO says as British companies begin to think about ‘life after lockdown’, and to consider re- opening offices and warehouses, experts are reminding them that there is yet another flu-like disease that they have to consider, and that is Legionnaire’s Disease. During the lockdown, domestic water services feeding storage tanks, calorifiers and pipework will have been unused, giving the possibility of a proliferation of Legionnaires’ bacteria in the water system. The Scalebreaker C210 chemical resistant pump from Kamco is purpose built for circulating biocides and chlorine solutions throughout heating and hot water services. The portable unit is temporarily connected into the water system during the operation. Chemicals are enclosed at all times within the tank, hoses or equipment being cleaned, minimising fumes and splashes and risks to operators. t: 01727 875020 e | keithm@kamco.co.uk w | www.kamco.co.uk 26 | Plant & Works Engineering www.pwemag.co.uk June 2020 Process, Controls & Plant Portable cleaning unit
