With a metal actuator that can be turned and swapped without tools, sensor PRO SLS switches are a highly reliable position monitoring solution rated to IP66/ 67. Series SLS switches are suitable for use in conveyor object detection, end-position control, door position detection, and many other safety applications. Actuation of the switch contacts is monitored by Wieland’s safety relays, samosPRO COMPACT safety controller, or similar devices and will shut down the machine immediately, addressing any safety hazard. The new switches have self-cleaning contacts that provide a maximum reliability of 1mA at 24VDC and a life of up to 30 million operations. t | 01483 531213 w | www.wieland.co.uk Safe and reliable position monitoring solution The Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA) has revealed details of a comprehensive on-site audit that demonstrates FLTA members work to “demonstrably higher standards” than non-compliant companies. Tim Waples, chief executive of the FLTA explains: “There are many companies who can rent or sell you a forklift and each will tell you they’re the best. But few, if any, can back that up with solid evidence. Your local FLTA member can. To gain and retain their membership, each must abide by a stringent code of practice and must successfully complete the FLTA Member Audit. That code of practice is evidence the member is competent to survey a site (taking the time to understand the application, safety requirements as well as future plans), offer expert advice and then specify the most appropriate equipment.” t | 01635 277577 w | www.fork-truck.org.uk . For enhanced multi-process welding, portability and durability, ESAB introduces the Aristo 500ix inverter-based welding power source and Robust Feed Pulse and Robust Feed U6 wire feed systems. The Aristo 500ix can MIG/MAG, flux cored, MMA and TIG weld with maximum output of 500A/39V at 60% duty cycle. With Robust Feed, users can weld with solid wire up to 2.0 mm and cored wire up to 2.4 mm. They offer a 50 mm dinse terminal on the back for an MMA torch, while the Robust Feed U6 also enables gouging. The company says they have the industry’s only IP44 protection rating, a heat kit to keep the wire dry and connection designs that prevent the cable and hose from shearing. t | 01992 768515 w: www.esab.com Welding systems for extreme environments 16 | Plant & Works Engineering www.pwemag.co.uk October 2020 Maintenance Matters Monitoring and alerting service Webinars put a new spin on learning Leading forklift body unveils on-site checks
