Romold, a manufacturer of plastic spill containment products, has announced it is now benefiting from the latest process gas heating technology from LANEMARK COMBUSTION ENGINEERING. Rotational moulding operations now undertaken by the Livingston-based company feature a Lanemark FDGA forced draught burner system which is delivering clear benefits in terms of both improved operations and greater energy efficiency.“We have been happy to provide a maintenance and support service for Romold’s existing burner system for a considerable number of years despite it not being one of our own designs,” says Lanemark sales manager, Adrian Cadman. “Over time, this gas burner had reduced in efficiency and, indeed, some of the spares and consumables it can need had, effectively, become obsolete – so the gains that could be achieved by the new installation were clear cut.” t | (024) 7635 2000 e | info@lanemark.com w | www.lanemark.com KISTLER has announced a new flexible, miniature charge amplifier with IO-Link, saying it’s a world first which complies with industrial communications networking standard (IEC 61131-9) and combines analogue and digital communication technology to pave the way for Industry 4.0. The company says the new charge amp is ideal for applications over a wide range of industry sectors, including robotics, packaging, food and beverage, as well as OEM’s. Its small size L 38mm x W 25mm x H 31.4mm including the output connections and its low weight of only 30g means that the amplifier can be installed where space is at a premium, such as robotic heads and other moving parts. The 5028A charge amplifier uses IO-Link technology where analogue output signals from piezoelectric sensors sends digital communications data. t | 01256 741550 e | sales.uk@kistler.com w | www.kistler.com HUMIDITY SOLUTIONS has announced it has won the prestigious Sustainable Product of the Year award in the recent HVR Awards, for its desiccant dehumidifier from Danish manufacturer, Cotes A/S. The submission specifically referred to use of the desiccant dehumidifier in lithium-ion battery production, where ultra-dry conditions of - 60°C dew point are required to ensure a problem free manufacturing process. 60% of energy used in a lithium-ion battery production facility is used on power to the dehumidifier. Cotes dehumidifiers have developed a 3 desiccant wheel set up which reduces the energy consumed by as much as 44%. The company says this is a unique product, saving energy in the production of a product widely considered to be vital in the reduction of use of fossil fuels, pollution at the point of use and the storage of energy. t | 01372 571200 w | www.humiditysolutions.co.uk SCOPE is an all-new, PLC-based boiler sequencing control system from FULTON. The company says it is suitable for up to four steam boilers and optimises installations, ensures energy efficient operation and improves boiler longevity. It can be retrofitted to existing vertical and horizontal fuel-fired boiler installations, including Fulton’s own range of existing and planned products and those manufactured by other boiler OEMs. Fulton says by using SCOPE’s intelligent sequencing to provide redundancy and reliability, significant savings can be made by automating start-up and shut-down procedures, controlling and optimising main steam header pressure or temperature, ensuring steam supply is controlled precisely and load-balanced across the boilers, thus eliminating extensive losses from repeated start/stop cycling of burners. At launch, SCOPE features a high-definition touch screen for system programming and displaying boiler status. t | 0117 972 3322 e | sales@fulton.co.uk w | www.fulton.co.uk Intelligent sequencing system A combination of an ElectroStatic Separator and a Metal Separation Module is enabling the recovery of fine copper and other metals from a waste product at a UK metal recycling company. BUNTING is one of the world’s leading designers and manufacturers of magnetic separators, eddy current separators and electrostatic separators for the recycling and waste industries. The Bunting European manufacturing and product testing facilities are in Redditch and Berkhamsted. The Bunting ElectroStatic Separator, launched earlier in 2020, significantly enhances the ability of companies to recover fine metals such as copper wire. In this project, the feed material is fine material from air-extraction post-shredding; a mix normally classified as waste despite the valuable metal content. Previous attempts to recover the metal constituent, including fine copper wire, had been unsuccessful. In fact, for what it takes to produce it, to what is generated it is often considered the most expensive utility in a typical manufacturing facility. Air Compressor experts have also estimated that as much as 30% of the compressed air generated is lost via leaks in the compressed air system. Often, when a compressed air system struggles to meet the current demands on the system, spare compressors are rented and used as back-ups or time and effort is placed in installing an additional compressor to the existing system. Both strategies are expensive, and depending on the size of the compressors needed, could mean hundreds of thousands of dollars.
