Focus on: Training & Skills Maintenance Matters T he AEMT (Association of Electrical & Mechanical Trades) has announced the remaining training dates in 2021 for its Ex Training Courses, which will take place in classrooms and online. These programmes are designed for mechanical and electrical engineers that carry out repairs on motors, pumps, gearboxes and other equipment operating in hazardous area zones. By joining these sessions, specialists will learn how to repair this equipment to the international standard. In addition, they can benefit from up-to-date information on legal requirements, risk assessments as well as the health and safety aspects of Ex equipment. As the only UK based IECEx Recognised Training Provider, the AEMT offers key courses that aim to provide a thorough knowledge of how the different protection concepts and standards are used to make equipment suitable for each zoned area. The current offering includes theoretical and practical hands-on training modules. These cover the basis of British, European and International standards AEMT remaining 2021 Ex training courses BS EN 60079-19 and IEC 60079-19 for Ex hazardous area equipment repair, overhaul and reclamation. Refresher modules are also available, as the AEMT and 60079-19 recommends professionals to undertake a refresher course every three years to ensure familiarity with the latest Ex equipment developments. AEMT’s remaining UK Ex Training Courses take place from October through to December. In addition, online sessions offered in different time zones are also available.
