VEOLIA WATER TECHNOLOGIES UK (VWT UK) has announced it has supplied organic based water treatment chemicals from its Hydrex range to help food manufacturer, AB World Foods optimise its effluent treatment. The company says the innovative VWT solution has helped the production facility in Lancashire to reduce costs by approximately 50% or £1000 per month, streamline process management and ensure compliance with the conditions of its trade effluent discharge permit. Due to the nature of the products manufactured at the site, the water discharged from the production line contains significant levels of suspended solids as well as fat, oil and grease content. Like many similar factories, AB World Foods operates a Dissolved Air Flotation water treatment process to remove the contamination from the water before it is discharged. Optimising water treatment Pioneering engraving specialist, BRUNEL ENGRAVING, has reported a significant growth in demand from the plant and works manufacturing industry following its investment in specialist state of the art engraving equipment. The company says it has seen a substantial increase in the number of requests for bespoke metal and plastic components since it quadrupled its laser engraving and profiling capacity with the installation of three new machines at its production facility near Bristol last year. Two laser engraving machines and a dedicated fibre laser profiling machine which can cut metals such as stainless steel, brass and aluminium, have enabled Brunel to produce profiles, shaped labels and control panels. In May 2021 the company also added a further laser cutting machine which has the capability to cut plastics and acrylics up to 9mm thick. t | 01275 871720 e | info@brunelengraving.co.uk w | www.brunelengraving.co.uk Technology boosts control panel business MICHELL INSTRUMENTS says the new Michell S8000 –100 is a high- precision, low dew-point hygrometer designed to meet the demands of humidity calibration and standards laboratories. Michell says its engineers have used the latest developments in chilled mirror technology to achieve reliable, repeatable measurements of low dew points down to -100 °C, with an accuracy of ±0.1 °C, without the need for additional cooling. The company says at the heart of the new instrument is a unique advanced optics system, which detects minute changes in moisture condensed on the mirror surface. This ensures high sensitivity and fast response to changes in frost point, even at low levels of humidity, where measurements are the most challenging. t | 01353 658 000 e | uk.info@michell.com w | www.michell.com/uk February 2022 Process, Controls & Plant New laboratory humidity reference standard Have you tried our brand new webstore?
