According to the organiser the events were launched to “address and unravel the vast array of conflicting information around 4IR, discussing the practicalities, technologies and issues surrounding transition and implementation of digitalisation in manufacturing across key market sectors in clear and concise language.” The conferences’ main aim is to provide a practical, jargon-free opportunity to those starting out on the digital transformation process, to experience a complete smart roadmap, highlighting the incremental stages of the 4IR journey covering all aspect of the digital transformation. This fits in with one of the main aims of PROFINET together with IO-Link, already well accepted as the backbone of Industry 4.0. This year the events cover Smart Industry Food & Beverage; Smart Industry Automotive; and Smart Industry Aerospace, all of which typify the industrial segments that rely on our technologies in their smart, connected factories and process plant. In addition in 2020, Smart Industry Expo returns, with its theme “The Future of Integrated Automation”, which is exactly what PI stands for. Attendance is free of charge to pre-registered delegates from the User community, i.e. companies that own, operate, design, build or maintain automated plant. The events will provide delegates with an excellent networking opportunity and the ability to discuss technical issues with our experts. A joint experiment showing how redundant networks “survive” massive EMI disturbance, demonstration of oversampling techniques in IO Devices, I-Devices running MATLAB generated code, all the way up to co-simulation technology using Siemens NX.
