From their number comes a final five who compete in the final to lift the Top Technician trophy. Top Garage 2018 This year, whole businesses gain the opportunity to take part via the brand new Top Garage competition. Top Garage enables us to showcase the best businesses operating in the sector. In order to take part, businesses will be asked to submit a video showing what makes them a Top Garage. These will be judged by a panel of industry experts. The 10 workshops that reach the semi final stage and five who reach the finals will receive a host of benefits as a result of participating. They will get a half page editorial write-up in Aftermarket, access to new products and promotion via www.aftermarketonline.net and the magazine’s social media presence. They will also be associated with a number of large brands. There’s promotion in the local press as a result of being in the competition, and prizes too. Commenting on Top Technician 2018 and Top Garage 2018, Aftermarket editor Alex Wells said: “We are always trying to bring forward new ideas for Top Technician, and giving whole businesses the chance to compete alongside individual techs means we can shine a light on the fantastic work and dedication of the whole sector, beyond the individual. “Top Technician 2018 will bring forth the competition that the industry has come to expect. The beauty of Top Technician is you never know who will win, and we think the same appeal will apply to Top Garage as well.” Participation and planning The two related competitions are open to technicians and businesses in the UK and Ireland. Top Technician 2018 and Top Garage 2018 will launch in December, with the first round open until February. The semi final features the top 10 technicians and top 10 garages and will be held in May 2018. The finals will then take place in Northamptonshire in July 2018, and will see the final five technicians and garages vying for the top spot in their respective competitions. The winners will be announced during a industry celebratory dinner held that evening. The event will also include industry leading speakers, music and will be a fantastic networking opportunity.
