JUNE 2019 AFTERMARKET 57 Left: Hunter RX45 wheel alignment lift www.aftermarketonline.net Significant investment As we already know, garage equipment can be a significant investment and it’s easy to make a purchasing decision based on cost alone. But there are many other factors that you should consider before acquiring a lift. Paul Beaurain, Managing Director at Pro-Align comments: “Firstly, have you assessed the wheelbase and weight capacity of the lift you require? Also consider the drive-on height as many newer cars have much lower ground clearances. “It’s important to find a brand that understands the alignment process, so you should find a manufacturer which makes both lifts and alignment equipment. Nowadays lifts include many features that drive productivity in the workshop by saving time, effort and increasing accuracy.” What about the weight of lifts? Is that a major factor? Paul observes: “Generally the heaviest built lifts are the strongest, however do not substitute the shipping weight for actually seeing the lift in person, as shipping weights can be misrepresented. “Make sure the jack capacities match or slightly exceed that of the lift. Look at your jacking choices carefully; reach, maximum lifting height, safety and durability are all important factors.” Reputation What about suppliers? Paul says: “Many lift manufacturers have built up a reputation over years of quality products and services so be sure to purchase from a brand with a good reputation and solid service organisation. Pro-Align’s top of the range Hunter RX45 wheel alignment lift allows users to maximise their efficiency and revenue opportunities. It comes with a selection of advanced features such as automatic tyre inflation and remote locking of front turn plates and rear slip plates. This reduces the time around the bay allowing greater capability and productivity for the workshop. “Pro-Align also offers a selection of scissor lifts, as part of the LiftLign range which provides practicality to any workshop as these lifts are suited to bays where space is limited. The LiftLign 6402 has a capacity of 4,200kg and the 6502 has a capacity of 5,000kg. “For larger workshops or those focused on a lower cost option, the LiftLign range includes four-post lifts, which are supplied with integral rear slip plates, turning plate recesses and have a full level locking capability. The 402 has a capacity of 4,000kg, whereas the 502 has a capacity of 5,000kg.” Paul adds: “For more information on Pro-Align’s range of lifting alignment equipment visit, www.pro-align.co.uk. ”
