44 AFTERMARKET JUNE 2020 TRAINING www.aftermarketonline.net Upcoming training dates and news on courses TRAINING UPDATE Online learning platform GS Yuasa Academy has become the first battery training programme to provide training accredited by the independent CPD accreditation institution. CPD (Continuing Professional Development) accreditation comes following an assessment of the site to ensure it meets the institution's standards and benchmarks. Users of the online training platform can claim CPD points and prove to employers and professional bodies that they have kept their skills and knowledge up to date with industry standards. Ian Newham, Training Manager at GS Yuasa Battery Sales UK, said: “We’ve worked hard to create the first comprehensive battery training platform so are understandably proud that it’s now become the first to receive CPD accreditation. We are pleased to have been recognised by an external training assessor with such high standards. “We’ve seen incredible engagement since the launch of GS Yuasa Academy – workshops, technicians, distributors and individuals have all rallied behind it. We know they love the broad range of content and the dynamic way in which it’s delivered. The fact that users can simply leave the site and then pick up where they left off is a real bonus for technicians and workshop owners with a busy work schedule too.” GS Yuasa Academy covers every step of a battery’s journey and features over 20 detailed training courses. Each module only takes a few minutes to complete, and results in a downloadable certificate bearing the CPD logo upon successful completion. Owner Hayley Pells observed: “There is a real need for these kinds of events and they should be normalised in our industry. I also think it’s great to have these types of sessions within a workshop environment, as gaining access to further education facilities is not always possible; for example, I recently had to travel to Chester – as there isn’t always somewhere on my doorstep! – plus I have to fit in my clients’ need as well. “I was speaking to one workshop owner, who, following his double clutch training, said he would now feel confident in taking work on as opposed to turning it away.” Hayley recently attended Basingstoke College of Technology for the second REPXPERT Academy LIVE. She said: “I believe there can be a disconnect between people with product and training knowledge, because fitting something on a bench is very different to fitting something in situ, so when working alongside someone like Alistair, there’s always more empathy and understanding of the challenges we face.” Welcome to Aftermarket’s training section.
