The company is currently putting out around 150 engines per week, its highest level ever. More petrol and diesel engines are set to join the range as demand continues to climb. Ivor Searle Commercial Director David Eszenyi said: “During the first lockdown in 2020, our orders started to climb significantly as van fleets were worked around the clock, placing severe stress on older vehicles. Coupled with this has been the impact of the semiconductor crisis, that’s forcing car owners, online delivery firms, tradespeople and van fleets to run vehicles longer, due to lengthening new-build lead-times, as well as increased pricing and supply chain issues for other components. We expect demand to increase further, particularly in Europe, which is fast becoming a major growth market for our remanufactured products.” Arnold Clark Autoparts teams up with racer Arnold Clark Autoparts is sponsoring Dundee-based stock car racing driver Holly Glen as she makes a bid for the World Stock Car Championships. In her day-job, Holly is MOT Manager at Autoparts’ customer GTM Garage Services. Her stock car is a 2.0 litre engine, space frame car with a Ford Mondeo shell, with Sierra drivetrain. She said: “It’s great to have Autoparts supporting us as we make our way through the saloon class series.” Craig McCracken, Group Factor Manager at Arnold Clark Autoparts, added: “Holly’s father George got in touch with us about the parts sponsorship as he is a long-term customer and we were happy to step in and help the team in their bid for the world title.” www.aftermarketonline.net Mahle warning: Make staff training a priority MAHLE is warning garages that, as the vehicle parc electrifies, and ever-stricter legal frameworks evolve, they need to make staff training a major priority. Ongoing geopolitical uncertainty and progressive technological advancement across the vehicle also make this essential. Commenting on the impact of these trends, Olaf Henning, Corporate Executive Vice President and General Manager MAHLE Aftermarket, said: “The trend towards e- mobility has the potential to push drivers away from independent repairers. Small automotive repair businesses will have to invest thousands of pounds in order to effectively repair and maintain electric vehicles, while also being able to offer affordable services to motorists.”
