62 n NEW PRODUCTS April 2020 www.drivesncontrols.com Nord has announced a “class- leading” family of universal three-phase motors, with 20 models spanning the power range 0.12–45kW. The Universal motors are certified to CE, UL, CSA, CCC, ISI and EAC, and meet minimum efficiency levels in Europe, the US, Canada, Russia, China, India and elsewhere. They are also certified by Bureau Veritas for marine and offshore applications. The motors can be used with four standard supplies: 380V, 50Hz; 400V, 50Hz; 415V, 50Hz; and 460V, 60Hz. They can also be used on 440V, 60Hz and 480V, 60Hz. Available in four-pole configurations, the motors come in IEC frame sizes 63–225, and are available in B3 foot, B5 flange or B14 face mountings. To suit the US market, they can also be supplied with Nema C-face and foot mountings. The TEFC (totally enclosed fan- cooled) motors are protected to IP55 and have Class F insulation. They can also be supplied in IP66 ratings, offering protection against dust, heavy seas or powerful water jets. The motors can be mounted to Nord gearboxes to provide compact, efficient drives. Options include quick connectors, single or double protection canopies, space heaters, spring-applied brakes and forced ventilation. Nord Driveystems 01235 534404 www.nord.com ifm electronic has announced a series of safety light grids with a T-muting option for applications where the safety function must be suspended temporarily, typically to allow workpieces or other items to move into and out of the protected area. The OY510 grids’ muting function saves money and simplifies installation, because no external junction box or muting relay is needed. Muting arms for use with the light grids are available with two through-beam sensors or two multi-beam light barriers for crossbeam muting, and with four parallel retro-reflective sensors or four parallel multi- beam light barriers for sequential muting. All versions fit onto the light barrier structure and incorporate pre- mounted sensors for easy set- up. A status light indicates when the muting function is in operation. There are three models which differ mainly in the height of the protected area – 510mm, 810mm or 910mm. The grids can protect widths from 0–4m or 3–12m. They meet Type 4 safety requirements in line with IEC 61496, SIL CL3 in line with IEC 62016, Category 4, PL e in line with EN ISO 13894, and SIL3 in line with IEC 61508. The IP65/IP67-protected light grids will operate in temperatures from –30 to +55ºC. Ifm electronic 020 8213 2222 www.ifm.com/gb/en Phoenix Contact has launched a configurable safety system consisting of function modules with widths as narrow as 22.5mm. The PSRmodular system, first seen at the SPS show in Germany last year, is based on two core modules with different performance ratings, which support safety- related communications between the other modules. As well as monitoring emergency-stop signals, safety door locks, light grids, and pressure mats, modules are also available for safe motion monitoring. Safety functions can be implemented in accordance with EN 61800-5-2 for encoder signals, such as proximity switches, TTL, HTL or Sin/Cos. A safe analogue module for monitoring 0/4– 20mA or 0–10V signals completes the range. The system supports protocols including Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus/TCP or EtherCat. The modules have screw or push-in connections and can be used for applications up to PL e / SIL3. Using a TBUS DIN-rail connector, they can be arranged next to each other. They are configured using software which does not need any previous programming knowledge and supports applications with up to 160 safe I/Os. Phoenix Contact 01952 681700 www.phoenixcontact.co.uk Safety light grids offer built-in T-muting option Configurable safety systemmounts on a DIN rail ‘Class-leading’ universal motors can be used around the globe ABB has introduced a weatherproof enclosure that allows IP55-protected general- purpose, HVAC and water industry VSDs to be used outdoors, thus avoiding the need to buy more costly VSDs with higher IP ratings. A range of frame sizes is available to cover various wall-mounting VSDs. The covers can be removed quickly for maintenance. Although IP65 or IP66 VSDs are often specified for outdoor use, a high IP rating does not mean they are weatherproof. The new enclosure allows cheaper IP55 drives to be used outdoors. www.abb.com Carpanelli Electric Motors can now produce Nema motors for the American market. The company makes motors for both 50Hz and 60Hz operation, in voltages from 115–230V, single- phase, and 220–415V, three- phase, allowing machine- builders to standardise on one motor for worldwide use. It also supplies metric motors with CSA/UL certification for North America, as well as supplying special designs to customer specifications. www.carpanelli.co.uk Sick has combined its MB1 mechanical safety bolt for enclosed hazard areas with its TR110 non-contact safety lock, to produce a single-device PLe (EN ISO 13849) safety system with high availability. The combination, available in IP67 or IP69K ratings, delivers a robust electromechanical door locking and monitoring package for protecting personnel and machinery, that can be integrated into factory safety systems. The TR110 has a locking force up to 3,900N with a high coding level for the actuator, and delivers EN ISO 14119 manipulation protection without extra measures. www.sick.co.uk igus has introduced a version of its drylin delta robot with a 10 times larger work volume than the original model. The lightweight DLE-DR system, aimed at simple pick-and-place tasks, is available as a kit or ready-to-install. The robot consists of three maintenance- free drylin ZLW toothed belt axes with Nema23 XL encoder stepper motors, lubrication-free coupling joints, and adapter plates for grippers and motors. It can handle loads up to 5kg with a precision of ±0.5mm, and has a 660mm-wide, 180mm-high working area. The return-on- investment is claimed to be less than six months in most applications. www.igus.co.uk/delta
