63 www.drivesncontrols.com April 2020 NEW PRODUCTS n Interroll has announced a high- performance crossbelt sorter that can handle up to 20,000 conveyed goods per hour and operates quietly (below 67 dB A), even at the highest throughput rates.. The mechanically-driven MX 025H horizontal sorter achieves speeds of up to 2.5m/s compared to the 1.8 m/s of Interroll’s ST 6160 sorter (which will continue to be available). The new system can also sort much heavier (up to 50kg) and larger goods (using carriers that are 50%wider). The drive chain has been replaced by a rubber belt, avoiding the need for lubrication. It is said to be much quicker to replace the belt – although this should not be needed for many years. The carriers can also be replaced faster, and wear parts are also less expensive, cutting maintenance costs by about 50% compared to conventional crossbelt sorters. The sorters operate on a direct- drive principle, using flexibly positioned drives. The drive system has an efficiency of more than 85%, and compared to sorting systems powered by linear motors, it can halve energy use. If one drive fails, sorting continues uninterrupted. At the heart of the sorter are crossbelt carriers with patented mechanical drives. The modular system includes customisable infeed conveyors and terminals. In addition to extensive in- house tests, the new sorter has already been in use for almost a year at selected customer sites. Interroll 01536 312770 www.interroll.co.uk Baumer has launched a combination of a wireless IO-Link master and an interfacing app which allows up to eight of the company’s IO-Link-enabled sensors to be parameterised, and their IO-Link settings and outputs to be viewed, on a phone or tablet. The SensControl system allows precise sensor adjustments, and is expected to be particularly useful when different items need to be controlled on one machine. Sensor functions can be switched – for example, inductive sensors can be used as frequency masters or counters. SensControl allows easy, reproducible configuration of IO- Link devices with process and diagnostic data (cyclic and non- cyclic) being visualised on a phone or tablet. The IO-Link module has a rechargeable battery and built-in WLAN and Bluetooth LE Smart communications. Sensors which incorporate IO- Link can report on parameters such as signal quality or when a temperature limit is exceeded. This data can be used for predictive maintenance. The simultaneous transmission of process data is useful in many applications. Baumer 01793 783839 www.baumer.com/gb/en Camozzi has developed an Industry 4.0-ready valve island incorporating a technology that uses sophisticated diagnostics to monitor and predict the impact of wear on the efficiency of solenoid valve parts, alerting users to potential failures, thus helping to avoid disruption and machine downtime. The Series D valve island is available in a 10mm version, with 16 and 25mm versions to follow. It will offer flow rates of up to 2,000NI/min and a pressure range of –0.9 to 10bar, with a pilot range of 2.5–7bar. Series D’s CoilVision technology monitors the operating parameters of the solenoid driving the spool. This data, including power consumption and coil temperatures, is analysed by algorithms to determine the health of the coils. The results can be transmitted to a PLC or via a WLAN to an IIoT (Industrial Internet of Things) gateway and on to the cloud. It can then be used to predict potential coil faults before they occur. In addition to viewing the diagnostics on a remote dashboard, the valve body also incorporates LEDs that indicate its status to local maintenance personnel. The compact islands can be used in applications with limited space, without compromising flow rates. An online configurator is available that can produce parts numbers and drawings. Camozzi Automation 024 7637 4114 www.camozzi.co.uk Industry 4.0-ready valve island can predict possible failures Wireless IO-Link master links with app to parameterise and monitor sensors Schaffner has extended its ecosine evo range of passive, modular harmonic filters to cover ratings from 1.1–315kW. It has also integrated a circuit breaker to ensure they are safe under all circumstances. When the filter is overloaded or short-circuited, the breaker releases, disconnecting the capacitors. The new FN 3440/41- 250-119 and FN 3450/51-315-119 filters include dedicated versions for drives, with and without DC-link chokes, and achieve 5% THDi at rated power. They are available in IP00 or IP20 enclosures. www.myecosine.com Rockwell Automation has announced a fanless version of its Allen-Bradley Kinetix VPC continuous-duty servomotor that uses the same interior permanent magnet technology as the fan- cooled version, help to achieve high (IE5) efficiencies. Removing the fan also reduces wiring and components, saving more energy. The motors are said to be ideal for applications that are sensitive to airflow disturbances. Their low torque ripple results in smooth roll- to-roll web-handling in applications such as printing and tensioning. www.rockwellautomation.co.uk Eplan has announcedVersion 2.9 of its computer-aided engineering (CAE) platform, with improvements including: QR codes that can store hyperlinks; simplified exchanging of symbols in placeholder objects; a layer management function that ensures all changes are saved automatically; better support for multilingual projects; andmass-editing of project data using expanded navigators, complemented by the option to re- use previously developedmacros. The QR codes can be accessed viamobile device apps and can be incorporated into documentation. www.eplan.co.uk Crossbelt sorter is faster, more efficient and handles heavier loads
