60 n NEW PRODUCTS July/August 2023 www.drivesncontrols.com Idec has released a handheld device that holds low-cost tablets securely as a costeffective alternative to dedicated teaching and controlling pendants. The Safety Commander HT4P can be used with iPad, Android or Windows tablets from 10–13 inches and adds emergency-stop switches and three-position enabling (3PE) switches to them, as well as wired LAN communications. Users can also specify options such as illuminated pushbutton switches, key selector switches and joysticks. With a tablet secured in the IP54-protected holder, the device is said to withstand 1.2m drops, and can be viewed in either portrait or landscape orientations. Switches can be located to suit either left- or right-handed users. The device can be used with either hand or shoulder straps to provide stability. In addition to Wi-Fi communications, the HT4P has a USB/LAN converter supporting wired LAN communications. A built-in USB power supply can avoid the risk of the tablet’s battery running out. In addition to the HT4P, Idec also offers an earlier version (HT3P) for tablets from 8-11 inches, which does to offer the optional extras of the new model. Both are available in the UK from Idec member company, Apem. The optoNCDT ILR1171-125 sensor is claimed to measure reliably even on difficult surfaces such as dark, structured or weakly reflecting objects. The basic device has a range of 125m; adding a reflector to the target extends this to 270m. The sensor measures 20 times faster than its predecessor, the optoNCDT ILR1191. Due to its time-of-flight principle, large infrared measurement spot and measuring rate of up to 40kHz, it provides stable measurements with good signal quality. The sensor provides accurate measurements even in poor visibility conditions such as smoke, fog, steam and rain. It is resistant to ambient light up to 50,000 lux. The sensor, protected by an IP67 diecast aluminium housing, can be used in temperatures from –20°C to +60°C. It provides a repeatability of <25mm, a resolution of 1mm and a linearity of <±60mm. It can be installed in tight spaces. The sensor can measure on static and dynamic targets and provides continuous outputs via a 16-bit, scalable 420mA analogue output, or via RS-232/422 serial communications. Micro-Epsilon 0151 355 6070 https://www.microepsilon.co.uk/sensors ifm has announced an edge controller that can be used to build IIoT functions into new and existing machines and plant. The AE3100 controller combines convenience and versatility with a variety of communication options. It also offers plug-andwork connections for IO-Link devices, including IODD (I/O device description) interpretation. Measuring 120 x 125 x 36mm, and suitable for DIN-rail mounting in a choice of orientations, the controller can be used in almost any control panel. At its heart is a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, which ensures smooth, reliable operation, even in demanding applications. Designed for easy integration with IT systems and automation networks, it supports industrial Ethernet protocols including Profinet, EtherCat, EtherNet/IP and Modbus/TCP. The controller can be programmed using Codesys 3.5 and remote management is possible using the Codesys automation server, which offers remote debugging and Web visualisation. The AE3100 can exchange data with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure and AnyViz, and supports standard digitisation languages such as OPC UA and MQTT. It can operate in temperatures up to 55ºC. ifm electronic 0208 213 2222 www.ifm.com/gb/en igus has developed what it claims is the only cable designed specifically for long, suspended hanging applications in e-chains with high tensile loads. The CFSPECIAL.192 hybrid cable incorporates a high tensile strength aramid support element in the cable jacket, allowing it to service mast heights five times higher than standard cables. It can handle lifting heights up to 50m and absorb forces of more than 4.2kN. It is suitable for use with SEWEurodrive’s Movilink DDI digital motor interface. www.igus.co.uk Harting has announced a new push-in connector technology which, it claims, can cut field assembly times by up to 30%. The Han Push-In modules use refined cage clamp springs, allowing wires to be inserted into contact chambers where internal clamp springs ensure strong contacts. If ferrules are used, no tools are needed. For stripped stranded wires, all that is needed is a screwdriver. Harting says the technology will simplify maintenance work in tight spaces, or when changing tools on machines. www.harting.com/UK Binder is offering M5 angled panel mount parts for space-critical applications in automation, robotics and controls applications. The 3- or 4pin connectors of the 707 series use screw locking to ensure reliable connections. Mated and locked, the interface is IP68 protected and rated at 60V/1A, with withstand impulse voltages of up to 1.5kV. Potential applications include collaborative robots, machine vision cameras and linear encoders. The 7.5mm-wide M5 angled panel mount parts can be used in confined spaces. www.binder-connector.de Electro Mechanical Systems (EMS) has become the UK distributor for the German motor-maker, Bühler Motors. Bühler specialises in brushed and brushless DC motors, gearmotors and pumps. The company also offers variants on its standard products with winding modifications, alternative shafts and brushes, and different transmission ratios and gear wheel materials. Bühler’s DC motors come in power ratings up to 200W. Its bMotion modular drive platform consists of combinations of DC motors, gear boxes, brakes and encoders. www.ems-limited.co.uk DigiKey has added more than 175,000 new parts to its portfolio so far this year, including a high-performance MPU from Renesas designed for realtime precision control using EtherCat. The distributor is continuing to add products for vertical sectors including automation, power and wireless. DigiKey distributes components from more than 2,400 suppliers. www.digikey.co.uk
